What
does Arkansas Truck Driving
Schools do once I submit my application?
Based on all the information and data
provided by you on your application, we will send on your application
to trucking schools that fit your criteria.
Will
I have to move?
Only if you want. If you want to stay
where you are, we can help you find reputable training programs near
you. If you would like to attend a trucking school that is not
within commuting distance, most schools have lodging available for
their students.
Is
graduating from an Arkansas truck
driving school required if I want to become a professional truck
driver in the state?
The state of Arkansas only requires
that you successfully pass the CDL exam, which covers everything
found in the Arkansas CDL Manual. However, virtually everyone in the
trucking industry recommends attending a formal CDL training program.
Otherwise you will struggle to learn and know everything you need
to, including how to operate equipment, safety issues, and the new
truck driving laws and policies that are introduced nearly every
year.
What
is taught at an Arkansas truck
driving school?
Most accredited schools have training
divided into two parts: classroom or knowledge training and driving
training. Formal teaching in the classroom is done to teach students
about the policies, regulations, and laws regarding commercial truck
driving. The second half, driving training, will give you the actual
opportunity to drive a big rig. The driving training is arguably the
most important part of your training since it gives you hands-on
experience before you get your CDL. During this portion, you will be
taught driving skills such as how to operate the equipment, drive in
certain weather conditions, and different driving techniques.
How
much will an Arkansas truck
driving school cost me out-of-pocket?
This depends on which school you attend
and what financial assistance programs they offer. Most schools have
some form of financial aid in place so that training does not become
a financial burden for students. Many trucking companies will also
pay for your training if you agree to work for them.
Where
can I take the Arkansas CDL
exam once I've completed training?
The written portion of the exam is
given by the Arkansas State Police at all Trooper locations in
Arkansas. However, the driving skills test is only available at six
locations, including Hope, Little Rock, Newport, Pine Bluff,
Russellville, and Springdale. Contact the specific location you
would like to test at to schedule an appointment.
